Junk mail is a major problem for most Internet users. To combat the ever-increasing tide, Ampheon utilise spam quarantines on their mail servers. This uses a number of highly complex algorithms that are updated hourly to automatically identify junk mail.
Quarantining works by analysing each email that reaches the mail server. The server then identifies the mail as 'genuine' in which case it passes straight to your email inbox, or 'possibly spam' in which case the email is quarantined.
The mail server then sends out quarantine emails on the following schedules:
The quarantine report details all new messages that have been identified by the server as possibly being spam. When you receive a report, you have the option to release any genuine emails that have been incorrectly identified, and also to white list the sender to prevent a message from them being added to the quarantine in the future. After you have released the genuine emails, you simply then delete the report.
If a sender sends you multiple emails, only the first email from them will be shown in the report. When you then release their email, all of the sender's emails will then be released to your inbox.
When you use Ampheon servers for sending mails, your email recipients will automatically be whitelisted. Because of this, and the option to whitelist addresses from the quarantine reports, the system becomes more accurate the more you use it.
At any time you can view your entire spam quarantine by logging on to web mail. Please review the separate article on doing this.
It should be noted that the spam quarantine stores the last seven days of quarantined email only. After this time, you will not be able to view, release or white list emails using the reports, or to see quarantined emails older than seven days through web mail.
